Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation Review and Swatches 05 Porcelain

The Vichy Dermablend Foundation is a foundation that I've wanted to try for absolutely ages! And when I saw it on offer in Boots, I bought it straight away. So lately my skin has been awful: Very red and rather reactive and also a little spotty (yuk!) but a bad mix of hormones and fast food have led to my skincare woes (I promise I will stop eating bad, erm soon! haha!) Anywho I digress: I was hoping that the Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation would be the answer to my skin nightmares, so lets take a look shall we?  The first thing I was surprised and rather disappointed about was the shade: It was so dark: As you can see above, initially the swatches are almost orange! Had I bought the wrong shade: I checked the bottle: Nope, 05 Porcelain. Well their idea of Porcelain and my idea of Porcelain are very different! Porcelain to me is like a doll: Exceedingly pale (basically almost white) Honestly why are so many foundations so sodding orange?! Anywho, I tho...

MAC Strobe Cream Mini Review

Strobing is something I'd never even heard of until I started watching Rupauls Drag Race a few years ago (in the Sharon Needles Era: AKA the good ol' days!) Strobing has been described as overdone highlighting: However strobing to me is not only highlighting certain facial features but also adding dimension and texture to the area too. Admittedly, its not something I would bother doing every day. But on special occasions I like to highlight my favourite features (usually my cheekbones)  I received the MAC Strobe Cream as a little try-out sample after buying too many lipsticks over on the MAC website. I was pretty chuffed as I've wanted to try out the Strobe Cream for ages now!  MAC describe the Strobe Cream as 'a  moisturiser that boosts the look of dull skin and luminises with iridescent particles' So perfect for my tired skin that needs a bit of a boost!  I love the little packaging, in fact I would say I'm a bit obsessed with miniature ve...

Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage Exfoliator Review

I know another skincare review! I promise I will review more makeup (I have tons and tons of MAC lipsticks to show you, I promise!) But at the moment, my main concentration has definitely been skincare. Mostly because having a baby completely messed my skin up and because I no longer have time to do a full face of makeup, I really try to concentrate on my skin.  So, next up, we have the Gatineau Radiance Enhancing Gommage Exfoliator this is great for anyone looking for a gentle exfoliator for sensitive skin.  A great factor of this product is the fact that it doesn't contain micro-beads, making it gentle on the skin and good for the environment too!  Its main purpose is to melt away dead skin cells upon application without the need for scrubbing your face till your skin falls off.  So, I have been currently using this twice a week: I apply it to dry, cleansed skin, just before getting in the shower. The gel is almost pearlescent to look at a...

Mini Review: Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer Review

I don't wear eyeshadow much at all anymore, but when I do, it is usually for a night out with my girlfriends, drinking and dancing the night away (not that I get a chance to do much of that anymore!)  So when I do got out I need I need to be sure that my makeup will last. I usually use a primer for my foundation (at the moment it is The Ordinary Silicone Primer, a review of which can be found here )  I used to used the Urban Decay Shadow Primer, but when I received a free sample of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I thought I would give it a go and see how it compares to my much loved Urban Decay alternative.  So what is it? 'According to the Too Faced Website this is a  'full-coverage insurance policy against eye shadow fading, creasing, and melting. The silicone-based eyeshadow primer transforms any eye shadow into a perfectly blendable, colour-drenched, intensified version of itself, then locks it down perfectly until you take it off' Firs...

This Works No Wrinkles Eye Repair Eye Cream Review

If your a regular reader of my blog, you will know that I'm pretty obsessed with eye creams and serums. I've recently had a baby (I say recently even though she's 8 months old, as it has gone soo fast! I still think of her as a tiny little baba, but she's crawling all over the place and I can already tell that she's going to be a mischief maker! Anyway, don't get me talking about babies, you'll be here all day!)  Back to the job in hand: A review of the 'This Works' No Wrinkles Eye Repair Serum. I picked this up after seeing it for only £12.99 on the TKMaxx website (unfortunately it's sold out now) But take a look in your local TKMaxx store to see if you can still grab some. Honestly I've become a little obsessed with TKMaxx, the amount of bargains I've bought from there lately has been crazy (So many of those Too Face lip glosses and mountains of skincare and of course Candles!) Anywho, I digress (again) back to the review........

Baby Products I Wish I Hadn't Bought

When I was first pregnant, one of the things I was most looking forward to was buying all the things! The clothes, the toys, the pram, you name it I was desperate to buy everything. Unfortunately my hormones and my excitement resulted in some rather odd purchases............ An Expensive Baby Bath Seriously I paid £90 for a baby bath! £90 bloody pounds? Its just a glorified washing up bowl. It supposedly weighs the baby and tells you the temperature of the bath water (both of which are constantly very inaccurate!) Either I received a faulty one, or these baths are just crap.  Newborn Baby Clothes  You know those teeny-tiny baby clothes for new born babies (usually targeted at babies around the 7 pounds mark) Yeah I bought loads of them as I was convinced I was going to deliver early (my nephew was 9 weeks premature so I'm probably a little paranoid) So I bought loads of those teeny tiny outfits. Emmy was 8 pound, 6 ounces when she was born, so no chance of her...

Balance Me Rose Otto Face Oil Review

An oil for your face? Yes, Yes, Yes! If you would have told me years ago, when I was a hormonal teenager with many breakouts to use oil on my face I would have laughed at you, but the Balance Me Rose Otto Face Oil, has made such a difference to my skin, I am a complete oil convert.  I have quite red, sensitive, often sore skin and this calms it right down. Its deeply nourishing and hydrating. I've heard it described as a conditioner for the skin.  I usually use it a night when my skin is looking dry and frazzled. As you can see with the roller-ball application, you just roll it onto the skin (I swipe across each cheek and my forehead) and then gently massage into the skin. Its just such a gorgeous and luxurious feeling treat for the skin.  It has never broke me out and it has kept my skin feeling and looking a lot more luminous. It doesn't make my skin shinny and doesn't leave any kind of weird residue on the skin; leaving my skin feeling moisturised and l...

Roques ONeil Therapie Cherish Skin Repair Serum Review

Throughout Pregnancy my skin changed so much, it was very dry and lacklustre and just didn't feel right. It was often itchy and sore and because of this I was constantly on the look out for products to soothe my hormonal skin.  I received the Roques ONeil Therapie Cherish Skin Repair Serum in a baby gift box which a friend had gifted me. I'd never heard of it before but I was intrigued by what the product could do for my skin.  It it an oil based blend of Argan Oil (yum!) Rice Bran, Avocado (Yuk!) Raspberry Seeds (a rather powerful anti-oxidant) As well as Rosehip Seed to Rebuild, Repair and Protect Skin.  What I was really intrigued by was its claim that it could reduce the appearance of stretch marks during pregnancy. Lets see how I got on................... So I slathered it on my big 'ol baby bump religiously almost daily (although there were some days when my fat pregnant ass did nothing but eat ice cream!)  I used it from head ...

Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion Review

I have very sensitive and often sore eyes and because of this I have to be really careful what I use around the eye area. I'm always looking for soothing eye creams, serums and masks to make my tired and sensitive eyes look and feel better.  A few months ago, I decided to try the Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Lotion, has I had only read positive reviews for the product, and I must say I can see why...... I use the Liz Earle Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion first thing in the morning (usually when I've had a rough nights sleep with Emmy: Last night was one of those nights: She was awake from 3.30am to 5.00am and would not settle, so I can say I am absolutely knackered this morning!)  I apply a small amount of the lotion to a cotton pad and wipe over my eyes (sometimes leaving the cotton pad over my eyes to let the lotion work its magic for a little longer)  Although its called a lotion, its not thick in consistency at-all, it is more like a tonic. It...
