The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer Review

The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer Review

Who
One of the most talked about brands of the year, The Ordinary is one of the many brands under the umbrella company DECEIM, and are about 'clinical formulations with integrity' meaning its not about how it looks, it's what it can do that matters (or something pretty much along those lines)

What it is
A High-Adherence Silicone Primer. A two-in-one: Can be worn alone to blur imperfections (pores, fine-lines, redness; you name it, I got it) or under makeup to make it last longer.
How To Use It
Alone as a non-greasy hydrator that reduces the look of pores, fine lines, and uneven texture.  Or under make-up to give the make-up a long-lasting matte finish.

How To Apply
Smooth a small (pea-size) amount over your face (starting with your nose and working outwards) and leave on its own or before applying makeup.

Good to Know
Size: 30 ml + Cruelty-free + Vegan + Oil-free
Price
The Cheapest I found it online was from Cult Beauty for £3.90 (What a F-ing BARGAIN! Even if its crap, for that price, I can't really quibble too much)

So, Does It Work
Spoiler Alert: YES! Before discovering this primer I used the NARS Pore and Shine Control Primer (which they don't even sodding make anymore!) and honestly they are so alike it's crazy; however they do have one BIG difference: The Price (The NARS Primer is £27 and The Ordinary's Primer is £3.90 from Cult Beauty It just goes to show that decent make-up doesn't have to cost the earth!

On first impressions the packaging is plain and simple, it just does what it says; no fancy gimmicks just 'here's a product that will work'

The primer is quite thick and white and a little sticky too! Oh gosh, now that sentence sounds a little strange doesn't it?! It blends quickly and smoothly when warmed with fingers and dries quickly on the skin.

On the skin it just feels like wearing a thicker moisturiser, it doesn't feel sticky and it seems to sink into skin quickly, leaving it feeling silky soft.

When worn alone it creates a flawless base, blurring (some) imperfections and fine lines as well as filling in pores and creating a smooth base for make-up. It controls oil throughout the day and makes skin look 'filtered'

However no primer I've ever tried can create miracles, as such it didn't help with my redness or with the lines around my eyes (bearing in mind, I have a six month old baby, so those lines are a little deeper than they used to be!) It does however, help to blur out the pores on my nose.

This works to well with my combination skin and manages to mattify any greasy areas (nose/chin/forehead) without highlighting any dry patches.

I currently use this as a primer for my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (a well known tricky foundation, which requires skin to be prepped before using) I find this Primer the perfect match for my foundation.

I've now used the primer under numerous foundations (MAC Studio Fix; which worked like a treat) as well as Loreal's True Match Foundation (I'm not a massive fan of this foundation and the primer didn't seem to work well with it)

This Primer helps my foundation to last all day, it makes my foundation look flawless and very matte: It doesn't highlight dry patches and manages to control oil throughout the day. I can wear this primer without having to worry that my make-up needs retouching throughout the day.

Overall
Admittedly I was dubious at first because of the price, but I can honestly say that it is one of the best primers I have ever tried (and believe me I've tried a lot!) For the price, the product is amazing. It does exactly what it says on the tin!

I would highly recommend this primer and honestly even if it was triple the price, I would still be chuffed with how it makes my skin feel and the fact that it can make my make-up last all day.

Have you tried this Primer? What did you think?

MAC Strobe Cream Mini Review

Strobing is something I'd never even heard of until I started watching Rupauls Drag Race a few years ago (in the Sharon Needles Era: AKA the good ol' days!) Strobing has been described as overdone highlighting: However strobing to me is not only highlighting certain facial features but also adding dimension and texture to the area too. Admittedly, its not something I would bother doing every day. But on special occasions I like to highlight my favourite features (usually my cheekbones)  I received the MAC Strobe Cream as a little try-out sample after buying too many lipsticks over on the MAC website. I was pretty chuffed as I've wanted to try out the Strobe Cream for ages now!  MAC describe the Strobe Cream as 'a  moisturiser that boosts the look of dull skin and luminises with iridescent particles' So perfect for my tired skin that needs a bit of a boost!  I love the little packaging, in fact I would say I'm a bit obsessed with miniature ve...

Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer Review

I'm obsessed with concealers, and I'm always on the hunt for the perfect one! I currently use the Nars Radiant Concealer ( Review Here ) for under my eyes and the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer for spots etc.  I recently purchased the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer as I'd read good reviews online and I wash hoping it might be a dupe for my trusty Nars Concealer.  Firstly there is one massive downside to this concealer: There are only THREE Shades! That just seems lazy! Especially in this day and age where you can purchase some concealers which have over 30 shades to choose from!  I have the shade 'Light' and for once, it is indeed actually Light! It's gorgeously pale (it may even be too pale for some people, so I would suggest swatching it next to the other shades if unsure)  It is specifically designed for the delicate eye area and it offers 24 hour hydration to the area around the eyes to offer hydration throughout the day, leaving eyes...

Balance Me Rose Otto Face Oil Review

An oil for your face? Yes, Yes, Yes! If you would have told me years ago, when I was a hormonal teenager with many breakouts to use oil on my face I would have laughed at you, but the Balance Me Rose Otto Face Oil, has made such a difference to my skin, I am a complete oil convert.  I have quite red, sensitive, often sore skin and this calms it right down. Its deeply nourishing and hydrating. I've heard it described as a conditioner for the skin.  I usually use it a night when my skin is looking dry and frazzled. As you can see with the roller-ball application, you just roll it onto the skin (I swipe across each cheek and my forehead) and then gently massage into the skin. Its just such a gorgeous and luxurious feeling treat for the skin.  It has never broke me out and it has kept my skin feeling and looking a lot more luminous. It doesn't make my skin shinny and doesn't leave any kind of weird residue on the skin; leaving my skin feeling moisturised and l...
